Abstract

Walia and others (2006) reported that it is often common for newborns with low body weight to die. The Expert Committee of the World Health Organization 2005 has proved that babies whose weight is less than 2500 grams at birth are called newborns. That is, "infants weighing less than 2.5 kg in the first hour of life are called low-birth-weight newborns." Indian experts believe that this measure is right for developed countries and since India is a developing country, this measurement is not right here according to which 2000 grams is the correct scale. Infants weighing less than 2000 grams should fall under the newborn body of low body weight.
