Abstract

Teacher job satisfaction is a vital component in the delivery of quality education and the overall functioning of schools. This study investigates the factors influencing job satisfaction among elementary school teachers in the Valsad District of Gujarat, India. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive survey design, data were collected from a representative sample drawn from 2,070 elementary schools using a stratified random sampling technique. The study examined seven core dimensions of satisfaction: salary, workload, school facilities, recognition, attitude toward teaching, administrative support, and collegial cooperation. Results revealed that most teachers reported moderate to high satisfaction across domains, with particularly strong satisfaction in areas of administrative support and peer collaboration. However, concerns persisted regarding financial security, resource availability, and job stability. These findings align with global literature on teacher motivation and underscore the need for balanced professional environments that provide both tangible support and emotional reinforcement. The study contributes to the growing body of research that informs policy and leadership practices in improving teacher retention and performance in diverse educational settings.
